The team from CDFreaks.com are at CeBIT and checked in with a report on Lite-On IT (and their new dual format DVD recordable drive to be released this May) and Ahead (and their new software packages).
The interesting bits:
As many of our visitors will know, Lite-On is about to release (May of this year) their first DVD-recorder which will support both DVD-recording formats at the following speeds: 4x DVD+R/-R, 2.4X DVD+RW and 2X DVD-RW.
Ahead Technologies is about to release several new software products. Unfortunately we didn't find much out about Nero Burning Rom 6 but we, of course, can report you about some other interesting new software packages:
- Nero Digital
A complete MPEG-4 audio and video compression technology which can produce DVD quality at only 20% of the DVD's original space! It's build upon Aheads AAC technology and can decode DivX, XviD, Quicktime and other MPEG-4 implementations. The codec should be available for download in about the second quarter of 2003.
- InCD 4
Improved version of Ahead's CD and DVD packet writing software with support for hot plugging and Defective Block Management.
- NeroVision Express 2.0
Second generation of Ahead's VCD/SVCD/DVD authoring, editing and recording package.
