When the Xbox hit the market two years ago, gaming geeks were its target audience. But 7 million Xboxes later, Microsoft Corp. chairman Bill Gates is dropping hints that the Redmond software concern hopes to broaden the hit video-game console's audience in the next few years by adding more digital media capabilities.
In an early February interview with the French financial newspaper Les Echos, Gates said the next iteration of the Xbox may enable users to do video and photo editing and surf the Web.
