Microsoft sometimes runs like an over-enthusiastic bakery.
This bakery makes two kinds of white bread that sell in great quantities -- the Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office suite for word processing, spreadsheets and such.
So the bakery is rolling in dough, but the bakers are unhappy. They don't want to be known merely for cranking out the same old thing; they want to innovate with elegant designs for bagels, croissants and sweet rolls.
Yet the bakers, in their eagerness to be acclaimed for creative genius, keep impatiently rushing out half-baked loaves, leaving customers chewing on pasty globs that are impossible to swallow.
