The hack is back. After launching and quickly dropping an effort to break the main security code in Microsoft's Xbox games console, the Neo Project is now vowing to return to the job.
The computing group, which specializes in creating distributed computing software designed to solve security challenges, will resume work soon on the Xbox challenge with a new effort called "Project X," said founder Mike Curry. Cracking the Xbox security code could be the key to meeting a $100,000 challenge funded by Michael Robertson, CEO of software company Lindows, to be awarded to the first hacker to run Linux software on an unmodified Xbox.
