Warner Bros. is planning two waves of animated superhero DVDs next year. The first wave includes the classic (but horribly written and animated) Challenge of the Superfriends, second volumes of Batman: The Animated Series - Tales of the Dark Knight and Justice League: Justice on Trial, and two animated X-Men titles (Evolution and Mutants Rising). The Superfriends DVD will be a compilation of the 1978 Hanna-Barbera TV show with the episodes "Invasion of the Fearians," "The Time Trap," "Trial of the Superfriends," "Wanted The Superfriends," and "The World's Deadliest Game". All discs are due on April 22nd and will retail $19.98. A second wave of animation is likely to hit in September. This second release should consist of a third Batman: The Animated Series, more Justice League and possibly the first Superman: The Animated Series (the three-part origin episode "Superman: Last Son of Krypton"). The video-premiere Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman is also scheduled for a Fall 2003 release.
