Thanks Rommel: Compaq has finally overtaken Palm as the Australian PDA market's top dog, taking advantage of a weak retail sector that has traditionally been Palm's home turf. According to researchers Inform, Compaq held 33.7 per cent of the total PDA market in October, compared to Palm's 33.4 per cent. Palm held just over 37 per cent of the market in September. Compaq also took the lead in terms of individual products, with the iPAQ 3870 taking top spot ahead of Palm's m515 in October. The Palm was followed by Compaq's iPAQ 3970 and 3850 models, with Toshiba's e310 rounding out the top five.
