In a classic eleventh-hour reprieve, a mountain of Microsoft documents stored in Salt Lake City since the mid-1990s has been spared from the shredders.
The destruction of the documents would have marked a confetti-type end for Caldera's unfair-competition lawsuit against Microsoft, which was settled in January 2000.
But Sun Microsystems has filed motions in U. S. District Court for Utah asking to inspect the aging memos, e-mail and other documents for possible evidence in its own lawsuit against software giant Microsoft.
