Sony Online Entertainment announced today that work on a Pocket PC version of EverQuest is just about complete. Simply called "EverQuest For the Pocket PC," the portable version is under development by Emodiv and should be available later this month. The price is a mere $19.99.
"Players will be quickly drawn into EverQuest For the Pocket PC's strong storyline filled with adventure, monsters, magic and melee battles," said SOE director Michael Lustenberger.. "And with an MSRP of under $20, EverQuest For the Pocket PC is a perfect gift this holiday season for anyone who enjoys games and owns a Pocket PC handheld device."
Although it's called EverQuest, this Pocket PC game is a fair bit different from its computer big brother. It's a single-player game, for one, and it uses a 2D isometric perspective that may completely disorient inexperienced game fans. Basic gameplay, though, is remarkably unchanged: Choosing one of four character classes, you'll explore the land of Norrath, killing monsters and completing quests to raise your skills.
EverQuest For the Pocket PC will be episodic in style—the first $19.99 game will be out later this month, but two more episodes for your character to traverse through are planned for next year. For more information on the game's release, check out SOE's official page.
