Microsoft charts web pirates' threat to software industry | |

New research suggests internet software piracy is spiralling. The Microsoft Asia survey found two million web pages either offering illegal software or links to pirate sites. It claims the number of offending websites has surged 100% over the past year, and 2000% in the last three. The report attributes the scale of the problem to the rising popularity of online commerce and broadband connections. Microsoft South Asia president Sanjay Mirchandani says the findings show a co-ordinated worldwide law enforcement effort is needed. | ||
