Advanced Micro Devices Inc. cut the price on some Athlon processors for laptops by as much as 35 percent, as the chipmaker introduces faster models and challenges Intel Corp. in mobile personal computers.
The cost of an Athlon XP 1800+ for notebook PCs dropped to $196 each from $301 in 1,000-unit shipments, Advanced Micro said on its Web site. A 1700+ fell 18 percent to $169 from $205.
