The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation awarded a $7.5 million grant this summer to the three New York state school associations. The money goes to superintendents and principals to explore technology as an organizational and student-achievement tool. One of the terms of the grant requires the program to use a digital tool. The associations used the grant money to buy 5,000 personal digital assistants ... from, er, Palm.Crying in their beer: Microsoft wouldn't let the news media into its annual meeting at Safeco Field last week, but tipsters said cost-cutting efforts were in evidence at the post-meeting reception and product showcase. | ||
