  New tool tests Windows Vista application compatibility

With the release of a new operating system comes a heaping helping of broken applications. Some software runs perfectly and just magically breaks one day, while other software doesn't work with the new operating system right from the start. That's where Microsoft's Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) comes into the picture. Before you upgrade to a new operating system, ACT tells you which installed software will and will not work with the new OS in place, and Microsoft is preparing a whole new 5.0 version for Windows Vista.
