  Victory in campaign over Microsoft fees

Schools across Britain are set to save thousands of pounds a year after the Government acted to end the scandal surrounding Microsoft licensing fees. The Department of Education finally issued its response yesterday to an EDP campaign launched a year ago to stop the computer giant draining precious funds from the region's cash-strapped schools. Under the new proposals, the Government will take responsibility for bulk-buying computer equipment and will pick up the bill for the expensive software licences.
