Gamespy have posted a Q&A with Jeff Anderson about the upcoming Microsoft/Turbine MMORPG Asherons Call 2. You can download the Vistas video here. It is worthwhile viewing the video before reading the Q&A because they talk a bit about it in the Q&A. Here is some of the Q&A:

GameSpy: Technically which of the graphical effects are you most proud of and why? My guess would be the water!

Jeff Anderson: It's funny that you should mention the water. I was talking to someone about AC2's water the other day and they were complementing us on its gorgeous reflectivity. I agreed with them (of course), but I don't personally think that reflectivity is its best part. The water's reflectivity draws you into it, but it is the lifelike movement which makes it so believable. It is amazing to stand by the shoreline and watch as the waves slowly lap against your feet. Or, to pass the time by soaking in the gentle ripples and currents as the river winds past you and out to sea. It is amazingly serene. Occasionally, a storm front will move across Dereth, whipping up the rain and wind. It still blows me away that every rain drop creates its own splash and ripple in the water. Swimming is just as spectacular, watching the waves and bubbles forming behind my character. I haven't seen anyone else doing the things that we are doing with water -- there's nothing else quite like it.
