Apple Computer announced product updates to two of its most popular product lines Monday, and, as usual, it did so against the backdrop of rumors that other products are in the offing. Apple pushed the speed limits of its consumer-level computer, the iMac, and increased the capacity of is high-end and midlevel iPod digital music players. The iPod players now come in capacities of 40, 20 and 10 gigabytes, selling for $500, $400 and $300, respectively. Apple announced no new features. In a related announcement, Apple said its iTunes Music Store online download service sold its 10 millionth song earlier this month and that, over the four months since its launch, is averaging sales of about 500,000 songs per week.
