For many Windows server customers, the upgrade to Windows Server 2003 will not be a migration, it will be an eye-opening voyage and a leap into the future. That is because up to one-third of those customers still are running the aging Windows NT and are now a full two versions behind the latest and greatest. Ironically, those customers are just the ones that Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) expects will represent a major portion of new Windows Server 2003 buyers. They are running an operating system that has numerous security holes and is highly unreliable, by some accounts. They also will face the prospect of having NT support and security fixes cut off. | ||
