Nvidia to introduce nForce 220 series chipsets in April | |

Nvidia is to add to its core logic chipset portfolio with the release of the Advanced Micro Devices (AMD)-based nForce 220 series in April. In targeting the low-end market, first-tier board makers like Asustek Computer and Micro-Star International (MSI) are already showing strong interest in promoting new boards. The nForce 220 series comprises two chipsets, the nForce 220 and the nForce 220-D, supporting SDRAM and DDR266 architectures, respectively. The chipset line lacks Nvidias exclusive twin bank memory configuration a feature that allowed more bandwidth for data transmission through the 128-bit memory controller. While this is a diversion from the companys other core logic chipsets, the nForce 220 series continues to share many of the same features such as an integrated graphics core and the 5.1 Dolby digital system but are cheaper and will thus attract more clients to develop related boards. | ||
