Microsoft to Appeal Java Ruling | |

Microsoft Corp. plans to appeal a federal court ruling requiring it to include its rival's updated Java programming language in its Windows operating system. The ruling Monday gave Sun Microsystems a victory as it pursues its private antitrust suit against the software giant. Sun shares were up 19 cents, more than 6 percent, to $3.15 each in morning trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Microsoft spokesman Jim Desler said the company needs to review the details of the decision, but initially plans to appeal the decision to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit. Microsoft was disappointed in the decision by U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz, said Desler, adding that it was "premature" to comment on when the latest version of Java will be included in Windows. | ||
