Gates' Cascade fund raises Nextel Partners stake | |

Nextel Partners Inc. said on Monday that Cascade Investment, the private investment arm of Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates, raised its stake in the wireless telephone company by purchasing some shares from wireless pioneer Craig McCaw. Cascade Investment bought an additional 3.75 million shares of Nextel Partners stock, and now owns 12.7 million shares or 5.2 percent of the company. McCaw remains a major shareholder, owning 15.8 million shares of Nextel Partners, or 6.4 percent of the company. | ||
