Microsoft hands over scanning tech to Printer Working Group | |

Back in February, Microsoft announced its new interoperability principles. The company has since then published 44,000 pages of documentation for its various software solutions. The company took another step forward today with the announcement that it had contributed its Web services protocol specification for consumer scanning peripherals to the Printer Working Group (PWG).
The PWG, which has members from all over the printer, projector, and multifunction device industry, focuses on developing standards that make such devices work better with the applications and operating systems supporting them. According to Jerry Thrasher, the PWG chair and senior standards engineer for Lexmark, the software giant's move is quite a big deal for the industry | ||
