The New York Times has some commentary on how the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 just might be the keys to spurring competition for the next-generation HD-DVD and Blu-ray optical disc formats. Their article explains that the consoles' (relatively) lower cost of entry make them much more attractive compared to more expensive, standalone next-gen optical disc players. This in turn gives the consoles a greater say in how the scales could tip during the next-gen disc format wars, whether a winner truly emerges and how much of a victory it actually has over its rival. | ||
