Long hours sitting in front of a computer have the potentially deadly effect of creating massive blood clots that can break free and travel to the lungs. This deep vein thrombosis (DVT) has been linked, albeit in a very small way, to dangers of long-distance air travel, where passengers sit for hours without getting up. Researchers, who have dubbed this DVT variant “e-thrombosis,” have common-sense suggestions for those who spend too much time on their rear ends in front of Windows: Flex your toes and ankles, get up and stretch your legs, drink plenty of water, and avoid alcohol. Aspirin, which acts as a blood thinner, can also help. | ||
