This is the new Cable Guy article for December: The Network Policy Server (NPS) service in Windows Server 2008 is the replacement for the Internet Authentication Service (IAS) in Windows Server 2003. NPS allows a computer running Windows Server 2008 to act as a Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) server and proxy. RADIUS is an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) protocol specified in RFCs 2865 and 2866 that provides centralized authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) for network access devices such as wireless access points. RADIUS servers perform AAA for network access devices. RADIUS proxies forward RADIUS messages between RADIUS clients (network access devices) and RADIUS servers. | ||
