Exclusive midnight launch of Microsoft’s new gaming console hopes to convert fans to its expensive new toy. “It’s very expensive to create a console, so Microsoft subsidises it to put it into the market at a decent price,” says White. Eventually it will break even as users buy more games to play, she says. Microsoft is investing “a significant amount” to launch the product in SA, one of the fastest growing gaming markets in the world after India. “We are an unbelievably technology-hungry country,” White says. To generate more local appeal, soccer games developed by Electronic Arts feature Kaiser Chiefs players, and its golf games feature local stars. | ||
