The company will emphasize its development strengths, which include sports (Sega Sports), simulation (fighting and racing are included in this) and original consumer titles (Sonic, Sakura Wars, etc). Kayama considers Sega to be weak in the RPG and "Metal Gear Sold-style" games area, but believes that Sega will take a more prominent role in these types of games in the future. Kayama once again shared the bold numbers Sega has for software sales in the coming years, mentioning that Sega will sell 12.7 million pieces of software by March of 2002, 23.0 million pieces by March of 2003 and 30.0 million by March of 2004. Regarding specific forms of software, although no time frame was given, Sega expects to sell 4 million units through the Sega sports brand, 2 million units of racing and fighting games (including Virtua Fighter) and 10 million units through original games such as Sonic and Sakura Wars as well as the revival of past hits (hmm). | ||
