Did the Justice Department do a favor for Microsoft by waiting until Thursday afternoon to release a less-than-rosy review of the software giant's compliance with last year's big antitrust settlement? The report, compiled by the Justice Department and state officials party to the antitrust deal, offered a mixed assessment of Microsoft's licensing practices, concluding that the company may be charging other companies too much for the rights to various software applications. But many Americans probably missed news of the report altogether, given that so many were already heading out for the three-day 4th of July weekend when news of the report first crossed the wires. | ||
