Xbox looks to hook up with the PC | |

TORONTO (CP) -- Not surprisingly, Microsoft has a vision for just how its Xbox video game console should fit in consumers' homes. It's a hub-and-spoke strategy. The personal computer is at the hub of the home, where people store their music, digital photos and other files. But when people want to share that experience, it's usually in front of the family TV. "At the centre is the PC, and Xbox is the intelligent spoke," Robbie Bach, Microsoft's senior vice-president and chief Xbox officer, explained in an interview. Bach does not see competition between the PC and video game console. One complements the other. "Let's say you have five or six friends over, you have a dinner party and you want to show some family pictures. Where do you want to experience that? You may not want to go to the PC up in your private office, you may want to sit in the living room in front of the TV, access the pictures off your PC and show them locally."
