Microsoft, Justice Face New Judge | |

Lawyers for Microsoft and the Justice Department are going before a new judge to decide how the computer software maker should be penalized for antitrust violations. Friday's hearing takes place as both sides still pursue settlement talks, but little progress has been made in the historic four-year case. Some meetings were scuttled after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in Washington and New York. As the two sides meet before U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, the biggest penalty of the case - splitting Microsoft in two - has been shelved. The Justice Department dropped it after deciding it would be too time-consuming and difficult to pursue. | ||
