NVIDIA’s nForce2 has proved to be the most robust chipset currently available for AMD Athlon processors, and three companies on the forefront are Abit, FIC and Leadtek. The nForce2 is the only Athlon chipset that uses AMD’s Hypertransport technology and incorporates NVIDIA’s award-winning Soundstorm audio technology which decodes Dolby Digital 5.1 streams from games and movies. While NVIDIA has built 8x AGP support into the chipset, it still is more marketing-hype rather than actual performance gains because games still use the local video card memory for texture storage. | ||
