Chipset designers are redirecting their energy back to the Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) K7-platform market, as the licensing issue of Intel’s latest Springdale products remains unsettled and AMD has announced that it now plans to launch its K8-core Athlon 64 in September. VIA Technologies, the largest AMD chipset supplier, recently started releasing its DDR400-supporting KT400A to motherboard clients on a small scale to keep its leading status in the high-end sector. VIA has been the leader in developing K8-based chipsets. However, since AMD has delayed the launch of its K8 processors, VIA will not be able to enjoy the advantage much. | ||
