Wal-Mart Sells Window-Less Computers | |

Saying it wants to offer its customers more options, Wal-Mart's online shopping site has started selling inexpensive computers without the Microsoft Windows operating system. Instead of Windows, Wal-Mart computers come loaded with LindowsOS, operating software not compatible with most popular Microsoft programs. LindowsOS is based on the open-source Linux operating system and made by San Diego-based Lindows.com. Wal-Mart says on the Web site that LindowsOS "delivers the stability of Linux with the ease of Windows. These computer systems are a perfect low-cost alternative to computers preloaded with Microsoft Windows" The Wal-Mart systems, range in price from $299 to $599 not including monitor. | ||
