InterTrust Expands Patent Infringement Suit Against Microsoft to Include Windows File Protection | |

InterTrust Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: ITRU - news) announced today that it is charging that Windows File Protection technology -- broadly used and deployed by Microsoft in Windows XP and Windows 2000 -- infringes InterTrust's United States Patent No. 5,892,900 ('900). Microsoft's Windows File Protection (WFP) is believed to perform important functions that protect the reliability of operating system functions. WFP, for example, detects and corrects potential damage to the operating system caused by non-system software. In a separate lawsuit filed last month, InterTrust charged Microsoft's ``Plug and Play'' Driver Certification Program with unlawful use of InterTrust's patented certification technology. Further, InterTrust charged Microsoft, under a lawsuit filed in April 2001, with infringing seven other InterTrust patents and many patent claims. | ||
