If hardware launches are likened to opening up presents by consumers, debugging kits are analogous for journalists. Given to publications for the purpose of previewing and reviewing preproduction copies of games, debugging kits are essentially slightly modified versions of finished consoles. Microsoft dropped off our Xbox debugging kit today, and we thought you'd enjoy a quick look. Unlike the PlayStation2 debugging kit which is almost physically identical to its retail counterpart, the Xbox debugging kit is noticeably different. The system casing is semitransparent and green tinted, and comes packaged in a green box. The controller and memory card however are essentially the same as their retail counterparts. Below are a batch of pictures including several size comparisons with the GameCube and PlayStation 2. For reference, the Xbox (in its sleek black casing) will hit retail shelves on November 15th in America, do yourself a favor and reserve one now. Images: | ||
