It may be coincidence, or serendipity, or desperation, or none of the above, that has led this month to the "battle of the eights" - the two new Internet service upgrades from Microsoft and America Online. To great fanfare, AOL 8.0 formally arrived last week. To even greater fanfare, MSN 8 arrives Thursday, with a fancy do in Central Park. Of course, Microsoft chief Bill Gates will be on hand for that. Gates, when it comes to Microsoft products, reminds me of that saying, "He'd go to the opening of a door." | ||
