*** Subscription required to view store at WSJ.com ** Wall Street Journal is reporting that Microsoft has closed a deal to purchase RIM. This move comes after the MS and RIM deal for hosting of free RIM service for Hosted Exchange users by Microsoft. Microsoft says that it is a logical extension of their goals to add RIM to the family. MS Rep also note that it will take 9-12 months before the RIM OS and devices are fully integrated into MS's Mobile platform. As a side note, technically Microsoft will own almost all the patents related to mail, mail flow, and Exchange mailbox functions, including active sync functions and new mail notifications. | ||
