Intel Drives Wireless Speed with New LAN Chipset | |

At the NetWorld+Interop 2002 show in Las Vegas this week, Intel (Nasdaq: INTC - news) has unveiled new products it says will drive speed and adoption in the wireless Ethernet realm, including the company's first dual-mode wireless LAN (local area network) chipset. Intel said its new wireless LAN and high-performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet products reflect the company's efforts to accelerate the convergence of computing and communications through silicon integration. Intel's first dual-band wireless LAN chipset is expected to hit the market by the end of the year. In the shorter term, the company now has available a dual-band access point, running with non-Intel chips, that handles the same two high-speed data bands. | ||
