  ALi Licenses Rambus PCI Express Technology

ALi, a Taiwan-based chipset designer, announced that it is licensing Rambus’s serial link interface for its future PCI Express applications.

ALi will integrate Rambus’s technology into its core logic chipsets, which serve as the communications link between various I/O peripherals and CPUs. Rambus’s technology provides the communications cell that implements the physical layer of the PCI Express standard, according to the company.

Although Rambus is not the biggest player in serial transmission technologies, it possesses very strong technical know-how in high-speed data transmission technologies, said ALi.
