So did Bill Gates threaten Steve Case or not? One popular tale about Gates is that he threatened to either buy or "bury" the former America Online boss when they met for the first time on the Redmond campus in 1993. But according to a new book on AOL by Washington Post reporter Alec Klein, Gates never made the threat. "He was unpretentious, he never threatened," Jim Kimsey, AOL's founding chief executive who was in the meeting, tells Klein in "Stealing Time: Steve Case, Jerry Levin and the Collapse of AOL Time Warner" (Simon & Schuster). | ||
