Broadband uptake has shown signs of weakening recently and many have questioned the Federal Communication Commission's role in helping spur competition in the field. Recent rulings aim to deregulate the cable broadband and DSL markets, but consumer groups fear they will set up monopolies in each, leaving the consumers with little choice for their internet access. The FCC seems to care little if there are regional monopolies, if there is only one choice for a cable or DSL provider that is OK as long as you have a choice between cable or DSL to begin with. Their view of competition is not within a technology, but between technologies. | ||
