Microsoft often gets the blame when viruses spread throughout the Internet, and the world, using the Redmond, Washington company's software and server products. But does Microsoft -- with its Internet Information Server (IIS), e-mail and browser software -- truly deserve the blame for these outbreaks? Some experts say yes, but they are quick to add that all software has its vulnerabilities. The pursuit of software sales, they say, puts any creator's products at risk as they introduce more complexity and utility. And while there is a growing fear that Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows XP will enable hackers and virus authors to do even more damage, security experts say the software giant has increased its focus on security and has become a leader in responsive measures. | ||
