You might not think much about the software in your car stereo, but Microsoft does. You're probably not watching television shows on your Palm yet, but RealNetworks is preparing for when you do. Mobile gadgets are becoming new hubs for digital music and video and, with them, people can access entertainment without being tethered to the television or desktop computer. The developments have sent some of the top names in software scurrying to make sure the market forms according to their visions, leaving a line of competitive tangles in their wake. | ||
