Microsoft rep clarifies Shared Source Initiative | |

In a recent interview, Jason Matusow, program manager of Microsoft's Shared Source Initiative (SSI), discussed his company's stance on Open Source, Linux, the Shared Source Initiative, kernel hacking, and security through obscurity. Matusow admits that Microsoft's stance against the Open Source movement was a mistake, calling it "one unfortunate thing we did." He says Microsoft was forced to consider some form of Open Source model for its own source code in response to persistent customer requests. Matusow also admits "the fact is that Linux is now competing with Windows." | ||
