Everyone except the EU suspected that Windows XP Home N and Windows XP Professional N editions were a bad idea from the start. Nevertheless, Microsoft still needs to keep its products updated, even the worthless ones. Last week Redmond released a rather bizarre update for the N (no media player) editions of XP:
