You've waited and waited, but the day has finally arrived: On Friday afternoon, Microsoft began sending out invitations for private beta test for Longhorn, the next major version of Windows. The Longhorn beta includes both the client and server versions of the product, according to the invite, as well as related development tools for those programmers who elect to participate. Additionally, testers can optionally beta test Internet Explorer (IE) 7 for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.
