"OK, if those links are true then Sagan wasn't lying. If that's the case i take back what I said about him. Anyway, Augustine and Acquinas are not infallible."
Ah, but they're wrong... and the Saints whom you currently agree with are right? Interesting.
"1.) Democrats tend to be more concerned with environmental issues than Republicans.
Yeah right. Like banning SUVs and fighting made up Global warming that doesn't even exist. Their environment policies are costing us billions unnecessaily."
They banned SUVs? When did that happen? Global warming doesn't exist? Wow... so I guess that vast majority of scientists, including the ones who have spent their whole lives studying global climate change, are complete wrong? Phew... that's a load off my mind. I can now go back to being fruitful, and whatnot.
"2.) Democrats tend to be more concerned with civil liberties than Republicans.
Yes, but only for blacks and minorities. They are extremely anti-religion. just look at ACLU.
Bannig prayer from schools, banning pledge of Aleegiance, etc. ... "
Whaaa? Only for blacks and minorities? Last I checked, most liberals simply wanted them (and EVERYBODY ELSE) to have the same rights. How dare they. As far as being anti-religion, they're certainly not. (Although I wish they were.) A large number of them are CATHOLICS! At any rate, if upholding the Constitution's establishment clause is anti-religion, then so be it.
Government should not sanction or endorse religion in any way. "Congress shall make NO LAW respecting the establishment of religion, or the free exercise thereof...". This includes something as blatant has having official prayer in school (although I think kids should be able to pray anywhere they want to, as long as it's not endorsed).
The banning of the Pledge had nothing to do with the ACLU. It was an individual who got his case all the way to the California Supreme Court. They rightfully saw it was a blatant violation of the separation of church and state (the pledge is an official government document!). I think it's a minor violation, but it IS a violation. The "under God" was put in during the age of McCarthyism to combat "Godless commies". This is also when "God" was added to our money.
So it was only during the last 60 years that the pledge had the word "God" in it... it existed longer without the phrase than it has with the phrase. To suggest that we're changing some long tradition is very deceitful.
At any rate, the Constitution protects Christians, and Atheists alike... both from each other, and from government.
"3.) Democrats tend to be more concerned with the lower and middle classes than Republicans.
Yeah, right. Funny that I haven't benefited once from their so called concern. Why do they steal money from the middle class people then ?"
Me, me, me. I, I, I. Wow... I figured some people would be a bit more patriotic... especially in a time of war when we're fighting all sorts of evil doers. You do realize that taxation is a power explicitly granted by the Constitution, don't you? They are not stealing. They are collecting taxes in a completely legal way.
The "necessary and proper" clause (aka, the elastic clause) of the Constitution affords congress the ability the exercise non-listed powers to fulfill the listed ones, and that includes expanding generic taxation to things like property, income, and sales tax. So please, stop saying that they're stealing... it's very un-American.
Anyway, many people would say they have benefited from Democratic initiatives... consider that blacks used to vote nearly 100% Republican (Lincoln did free the slaves, after all), but switched to nearly 100% Democrat after Roosevelt's New Deal politics.
