DPM provides an efficient disk-based data protection and recovery solution. DPM protects Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, and Windows Storage Server 2003, and makes use of advanced features such as replication, policy-driven protection, and the Windows Server 2003 Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
