Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 Getting Nearer | |

Microsoft has just released RC build 3.140 of the long awaited Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 to its set of lucky beta testers. According to reports circulating on the Net, this Service Pack 3 will be as important as the same Service Pack was for Windows NT 4.0. Not only it fixes bug and security issues but it includes a new version 2.0 of the Windows Installer (against 1.3 for the SP2). Other refinements are the addition of an Automatic Updates applet in the control panel that lets the system automatically check for the availability of updates while you're online: it'll automatically download and install updates if you wish. A change inherited from the future Service Pack 1 for Windows XP has also been added to Windows 2000: you can now configure Microsoft middleware programs to be hidden or enabled to your convenience. It also helps you select which program for email, IM, web surfing, etc. should be used by default. | ||
