Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer says there is more-than-ample business opportunity in the pre-Longhorn era for partners to profit. He cited migrations from IBM Notes/Domino, SAP, Novell and Oracle products, as well as upgrading Windows NT 4.0 as huge green field. In a partner panel at its worldwide partner conference, one VAR stated concern that the bulk of migration work is done and wondered what opportunities could help partners bridge the gap between now and the much-anticipated Longhorn release, starting next year.
