On June 26, 2003, a panel of the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia overturned a lower court’s preliminary injunction that would have required Microsoft to carry Sun’s Java technology in the Windows operating system. The court upheld the same lower court's ruling that Microsoft had infringed on Sun's copyrights.
