Microsoft Licensing Changes: Victory for Customers or Redmond?
Time: 00:00 EST/05:00 GMT | News Source: InfoWorld | Posted By: Todd Richardson

A number of readers have asked what I think of the changes to Microsoft’s volume licensing announced this week. Did customer complaints about the high price of Software Assurance (SA) finally force Redmond to be a little more generous, as some news reports have portrayed it? It would be nice if that were the case, but after studying the extra benefits being added to SA, I doubt Microsoft is particularly concerned about placating existing customers. This is about getting new volume license customers to sign up, particularly for Microsoft’s server products.
